Michael Hetzel of Shady Cove has been named a risk-management services director for Lincoln, Neb.-based UNITEL Insurance.
Hetzel joins the telecommunications insurance company effective today, Jan. 6, covering the Southern Oregon and Northern California region.
He has been involved in the independent telecommunications industry for the past 20 years at Farmers Union Insurance. Hetzel is a lifetime member and past president of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a certified utility safety administrator and a certified safety manager.

Mortgage loan officer Tammy Morgan received Umpqua Bank Home Lending's 2013 Circle of Excellence Award. The award is earned by the top-producing loan officers throughout Umpqua Bank's entire Home Lending Division.
Morgan, who works at Umpqua's East McAndrews Road office, has more than 20 years of lending and escrow experience in Southern Oregon. She was twice named Associate of the Year by the Jackson County Home Builders Association and serves as the organization's treasurer.
Morgan has twice received employer awards for 100 percent customer loyalty and satisfaction. She serves on the Hope Equestrian Board.
Katie Shepard has been named executive director for Providence Community Health Foundation. Previously, Shepard was Easter Seals' Rogue Valley area director for more than eight years. She was president of the Rotary Club of Medford in 2011-12 and PolioPlus chair for the district, supporting an effort to eradicate polio.
