Motorcycle rider arrested after driving 100 mph on I-5

A California man with a suspended driver's license, no insurance and expired vehicle registration was arrested in Jackson County over the weekend after Oregon State Police clocked him driving more than 100 mph on his motorcycle.

Patrick Whalen Parks, 21, of El Sobrante, Calif., was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail for reckless driving. He was also cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured and having expired vehicle registration. He is no longer listed in the jail, records show.

Oregon State Police first saw Parks headed south on Interstate 5 on a silver Suzuki motorcycle near Valley of the Rogue State Park at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. A radar gun showed Parks was driving faster than 100 mph.

OSP said heavy traffic made it difficult to catch up to the motorcycle as it weaved in and out of traffic. Police reported Parks also passed a vehicle on the inside median, almost causing a crash. Police eventually stopped Parks near milepost 38, just south of Gold Hill. He was arrested and taken to jail.
