Bob Clarke passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center in Medford, Ore. He was born May 8, 1922, the second oldest of six boys to Ernest E. and Helen T. Clarke in Platteville, Wis.
Following graduation from Platteville High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin for three years. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific (New Guinea) during World War II.
Upon discharge from the Army in 1946, Bob decided to finish his studies at Oregon State University where he met the love of his life, Marjorie Dickinson. They were married a year later and remained devoted to one another until Marjorie passed away in 2011.
In 1947, Bob began a 38-year career with the Standard Oil Company of California (now Chevron) with assignments in Auburn, Portland, Medford, San Francisco, Fresno, and Los Angeles. Upon retirement from Chevron in 1985, Marjorie and Bob settled in Medford once again to enjoy the company of friends they have known for many years.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Michael (Cathy) of Benicia, Calif. and Mark (Linda) of Santa Maria, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Tracy (Adam), Derek, Andrew (Jessica) and Alex (Mary) all of California.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for any donations in Bob's name to the Rogue Valley Manor Foundation Medical Transportation Fund at 1200 Mira Mar Avenue, Medford, OR 97504.
