William "Bill" Coffindaffer, 96, passed away January 7, 2014. Bill, a fourth generation Oregonian, was born in Brooks, Ore. January 31, 1917. He then grew up at the coast in Yachats, Ore.
Bil started his career in the timber industry in Coos Bay, Ore. as an engineer and architect. He designed many commercial buildigs in the area. This is where he met his wife, Lois. They were married 60 years until her passing.
He moved to Portland, Ore. to work for a firm as a Plant Engineer Consultant. He traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and Asia. Next he moved to the Rogue Valley and worked approximately 30 years for Timber Products as Plant Engineer.
In his spare time he was very proud of his 60 year membership as a Free Mason and past master of the Masonic Lodge. Bill was also an accomplished woodworker, building everything from cabinets to lathe turned bowls and furniture.
His wife, Lois, preceded him in death. He is survived by five children, Jean Pasic of Portland, Ore., Jerry Coffindaffer of Florence, Ore., Paula Rice of Gold Hill, Ore., Susan Rider of Phoenix, Ore., and Bill Coffindaffer of Mechelen, Belgium; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
