OLYMPIA, Wash. — Danny Miles won't get the chance to win his 1,000th career men's basketball game next week at his alma mater, Southern Oregon University.
The Medford native, in his 43rd season as the head coach at Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, remained stuck on 998 wins Saturday when Evergreen State pinned a 90-87 loss on the Owls.
Oregon Tech plays next Saturday at SOU, where Miles was a three-sport standout.
Miles is on the verge of becoming only the second coach at a four-year college to win 1,000 games. The other is Harry Statham, who has 1,068 wins at NCAA Division II McKendree (Ill) University.
