  • Arturs Buss rescued the Southern Oregon Spartans hockey team with a game-tying goal late in the last of a three-game series with Fresno on Saturday.
    The Monsters, however, received the winning overtime goal from Justin Plate and Fresno picked up a 5-4 victory and a sweep of the Spartans at The RRRink.
    Buss, the Spartans' leading scorer, kept his squad's hopes alive with a power-play score with 2 minutes, 2 seconds remaining in the third period that knotted the score at 4-all.
    Justus Saldeen, Cy Jenson and Ben Henry each got in on the scoring act with individual goals for the Spartans (9-18-1-2).
