Central Point honors MLK Jr. at free Crater Performing Arts Center event

The city of Central Point will honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr. from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Crater Performing Arts Center, 655 N. Third St., Central Point.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item as a donation to Del's House.

The event will be hosted by Matthew Reynolds, a teacher at the Crater Renaissance Academy of Arts and Sciences.

David Walker, a journalist, filmmaker and comic book writer, will be the keynote speaker.

Art, music and performance pieces by Central Point School District students will be presented.

The evening will conclude with Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
