  • Oregon hires outside linebackers coach
PORTLAND — Erik Chinander is Oregon's new outside linebackers coach.
Chinander most recently served as an assistant defensive line coach for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles under former Oregon coach Chip Kelly. Before that he was an intern and graduate assistant at Oregon.
Outside linebackers had been overseen by defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti, who stepped down following this season.
The Ducks also announced on Wednesday that secondary coach John Neal also will serve as the defense's passing game coordinator. Neal had earlier turned down an interview for the head coaching job at Alabama-Birmingham.
Neal has been with Oregon since 2003.

The Timbers on Wednesday also loaned Columbian forward Jose Valencia to Argentina first-division side Olimpo de Bahia Blanca for a season.
Fernandez and Paparatto will join the club once their transfer and visa documents are complete.
Fernandez, 30, has played for several first-division teams in Argentina, winning season titles with three different clubs. Since 2002, he has appeared in 224 matches with 176 starts and 48 goals. He has also played in Mexico's top league.
Paparatto, 30, has played for top-division Club Atletico Tigre in Argentina since 2007. He was named captain of the side for the 2013-14 season, starting all 17 of his league appearances and contributing to six shutouts.

Saunders, 27, has spent his entire career in the Mariners organization. He made his major league debut in 2009 and has appeared in 475 games for Seattle. Last season, Saunders played in 132 games, hitting .236 with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs. Saunders had a career-high 19 homers and 57 RBIs in 139 games in 2012.

ATLANTA — Authorities say former NBA player Javaris Crittenton was among more than a dozen people arrested amid a metro Atlanta drug trafficking probe.
