Dale D. Kinnan went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 7, 2014. He was surrounded by his immediate family and life long friends Larry & Lori Goin. Dale was born October 30, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa. He was raised by his uncle, Delbert Kinnan, who preceeded him in death. He had two sisters, Donna Rae and Beverly, who also proceed him in death, along with his parents.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. He married Gloria (Fiebelkorn) in 1961 and they had two daughters, Kim and Mindy. They later divorced. He met and married Darlene in 1987. Darlene has a heart of gold and took care of him to the very end.
Dale became a police officer in Southern California in 1966, moving to Medford, Ore. in 1972 to work for the Jackson County Sheriff Office. In 1987 he became the Chief of Police for the City of Talent, Ore. retiring in 1997. He started "Operation Santa Claus" and on Christmas mornings, he and Darlene, his family, and his police officers hooked up his team of draft horses to a wagon and drove Santa through the City of Talent, delivering Christmas presents to underprivileged children in the area. Dale and his family spent many hours helping build the new Talent police department in 1990. He was very proud of his city.
Dale and Darlene raised draft horses for several years, as he had always had a passion for them. He loved working on all types of cars. If he wasn't at work or home working on the ranch, you would find him at one of his grandchildren's events. He supported them in everything they did. His biggest passion in life was his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Talent, Ore.; daughters, Kim Kinnan-Bravo and Mindy Kinnan-Willits of Medford, Ore.; his stepdaughter, Darnell Watson of Chiba, Japan; his granddaughter, Ashley (Lucas) Zoll of Las Vegas, Nev.; his grandsons, Zachary Willits of Forest Grove, Ore. and Daren Watson-Takahashi of Chiba, Japan; as well as his adopted granddaughter, Nikki Couch, her husband Jerron, and his great-grandson, Braden, of Columbia, Tenn.
