    Bill, a resident and businessman of Fontana, Calif. since 1978 was born in Jamaica Plain, Mass. and moved to California in 1951. He worked his way from security guard to district sales manager at ConRock for 21 years before opening his own business, Lucas Specialty Rock Co., in 1972, specializing in roofing aggregate.
    He was the founder and CEO of Lucas Specialty Rock & Sand Co. Inc, originally in Irwindale, Calif. In 1980 the company moved to Fontana, Calif. after a lengthy CRA government battle, where it has expanded to include Lucas Tapered Products / CalCant, all of which service the commercial roofing industry. Bill was past President of the Roofing Contractors Association of Riverside/San Bernardino counties and the recipient of the Roofing Hall of Fame award in 1994 from the Roofing Contractors Association of southern California.
    During this time, he was a resident of Glendora, Calif. from 1962 - 1988.
    He retired in 1988 and moved to Prospect, Ore. during the summers and Cathedral City, Calif. during the winters. There he and his wife spent time couples country dancing, which included dance competitions in the senior Olympics and were featured on the Club Dance Nashville TV series.
    He led an active lifestyle with his wife, Ruth, for the remainder of a 67 year great, active marriage, and also partnered with her in business.
    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth; his sister, Dorthea (John) Pyle of Glendora, Calif.; sons, Wayne (Pamela) of La Verne, Calif. and Dana (Judy) of Temecula, Calif.; daughter, Dawna (Michael) Mascolo of Florence, Ore.; and six grandchildren, Christopher and Ombeline Lucas of Castries, France, Chad Lucas of Boise, Idaho, Stacey Fawcett of Modesto Calif., Sean (Nicole) Mascolo of Albequerque, N.M., J.J. Mascolo of Salem, Ore., and Grant of Eugene, Ore.; and four great-grandchildren, Madison and Alyssa Fawcett of Modesto, Calif., and Clestine and Sylvann Lucas of Castries, France.
    Services were held January 11, 2014 at Oakdale Memorial Park, Glendora, officiated by Rev C. Luff Johnson, followed by a graveside military tribute.
