  • Medford man hospitalized after snowmobile crash
BEND — A search and rescue crew rescued an injured snowmobiler from a trail near Moon Mountain in central Oregon on Friday, a Deschutes County sheriff's officer said.
Deputy Jim Whitcomb said 29-year-old Devon Watson of Medford crashed while attempting a jump. Watson was in a group of five snowmobile riders.
Watson was transported to a Sno-Park parking lot and turned over to Bend Fire medics, who took him to a Bend hospital. Whitcomb called Watson's injuries serious but not life threatening.
The officer said Watson apparently decided to jump from his snowmobile after "realizing the jump might not be successful" but ended up landing on top of the machine after it landed in a snowdrift. Watson then bounced off, landing on the snow beyond.
