HILLSBORO — Eagle Point junior wrestler Levi Pomeroy and Crater senior Tom Winningham advanced to the Reser's Tournament of Champions semifinals Friday at Liberty High.
Grants Pass' Casey Coulter and Tyler Thomas also advanced to the semifinals.
Pomeroy, who is ranked sixth and seeded fifth at 126 pounds, pinned fourth-seeded Crook County sophomore Brent Bannon in 1 minute, 54 seconds in the quarterfinals. He will face eighth-seeded Century junior Brennan Baccay today.
After an opening-round bye, Pomeroy pinned Lebanon's Alec Lathrop in 3:48 to set up his bout with Bannon.
Also at 126, second-seeded Thomas earned a 14-10 decision over Hermiston freshman Valen Wyse, who was seeded seventh.
Winningham, ranked eighth and seeded sixth at 152, defeated Sandy junior C.J. McKinnis, 4-3, in the quarterfinals. He will take on seventh-seeded Roseburg junior David Harker — who beat Eagle Point's James McCoy a round earlier — in the semifinals.
Winningham advanced to the quarterfinals via a bye and forfeit.
The top-seeded Coulter (113) won by technical fall over Dallas junior Nolan Miller.
After the opening day, Crook County led with 151 points. Roseburg (123) was second, followed by Hillsboro (98), Dallas (81.5) and Hermiston (73).
Eagle Point was 10th (54), Crater 12th (49) and Grants Pass 17th (43.5).
The tournament resumes at 10 a.m. today.
