• Dunn, Grizzlies surge past Pelicans

  • ASHLAND — Junior post Michaela Dunn erupted for a season-high 27 points with 13 rebounds and three steals and junior guard Georgia Williams chipped in 15 points and 16 rebounds as Ashland defeated Klamath Union, 68-46, in nonleague girls basketball Saturday.

  • ASHLAND — Junior post Michaela Dunn erupted for a season-high 27 points with 13 rebounds and three steals and junior guard Georgia Williams chipped in 15 points and 16 rebounds as Ashland defeated Klamath Union, 68-46, in nonleague girls basketball Saturday.
    Kayla Turner had eight points and nine rebounds and Hanna Greenberg added six points and three steals for the Grizzlies, who led 31-30 at halftime before turning up the intensity in the second half.
    Dunn scored 11 points in the third quarter and Ashland's defense pressured Klamath Union into several turnovers that led to transition buckets, Ashland head coach Ashley Hafner said.
    The Grizzlies (7-9) took an 11-point advantage into the fourth before going on a 17-6 scoring surge to clinch the triumph over the Pelicans (3-11).
    "We came out in the third and had a great quarter of defense and our offense executed," Hafner said.
    Katey Choukalos led Klamath Union with 12 points.

    RV ADVENTIST 42, BUTTE FALLS 37 — At Butte Falls, Hannah Wood led three Rogue Valley Adventist players in double figures in the MVL triumph.
    Wood scored 13 points for the Red Tail Hawks (4-11, 2-5 MVL), while Kaelyn Scott and Carli Zamora each had 11. RVA was 8 of 14 on free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Loggers.
    Brandi O'Keefe led Butte Falls (3-10, 1-4) with 10 points. Katie Munsell tallied eight points and seven rebounds, Torri Lilly had eight rebounds and Shawna Creech five assists.

    The Eagles held Marshfield to only two points in the first quarter but led only 16-14 at halftime.
    Cesar Chavez added 10 points and five steals, and Austin Holmes led EP with eight rebounds.

    JJ Flynn added 10 points and Jordan Eskitgis eight points and seven rebounds for the Knights (11-4), who led 41-28 at halftime.

    Evan Givens recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season and Emmitt Bateman scored nine points for Butte Falls, which raced out to a 17-8 lead in the first quarter before going scoreless in the second and managing two points in the third.
    With strong defensive pressure from Will Bateman, the Loggers (6-8, 2-3 MVL) held RVA leading scorer Caleb Allen scoreless.
    The Hawks improved to 12-3 overall, 6-0 in league play.
