E. Dottie Dudley, 87, of Central Point, Ore. entered Heaven Thursday, January 23, 2014 at her home. The first words she will hear from her Savior will be, Well done, good and faithful servant." She began her faithful walk with the Lord when she was 10 years old. During this last battle with cancer, she was ready to go but she also loved living and enjoyed her life by serving God, others and her community right to the end. She continued with perseverance, strength and endurance continuing to amaze all, including hospice.
In 2006 Dottie worked with the Central Point Police Department as a volunteer with the VIP's. She then became lead volunteer with the Guardian Angels visiting seniors and shut-ins to check on their welfare. She worked for the Salem, Ore. police department neighborhood watch before that. Her goal was helping others, fighting crime, promoting community cleanliness, and safety. She worked with election boards and helped candidates during the elections and previously worked at JJ Newberry, Harry & David, was a correspondent for the Medford Mail Tribune, and was secretary for her church for many years while raising her children.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Richey and Sherman Simmons; step-children, Michael Schoonover, Sandra Schoonover, Nancy Schoonover, Sally McAfee, Debbie Lucas, Michael Dudley, and Victoria Pritchett; along with 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ollie Moore; her husband, Anderson Andy Dudley Jr.; and one child, Paulette Wiege Heasley.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 30, 2014 at Abbey Funeral, 550 Business Park Dr. Medford. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday January 31, 2014 at Table Rock Christian Fellowship on North Pacific Hwy, Medford. Interment will be at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
