  • Austin Sartorius netted the eventual game-winning goal as the Southern Oregon Spartans edged the Northwest Division leader Idaho Junior Steelheads, 3-2, in Western States Hockey League action at The RRRink on Friday.
    With the match tied at the 11:44 mark of the third period, Sartorius scored during a power play with assists coming from Tyler Spencer and Cy Jenson.
    Southern Oregon's Tyler Lazarek evened the match at 2 with a power-play goal on assists from Arturs Buss and Sartorius about five minutes into the third.
    Justus Saldeen's power-play goal put the Spartans on the scoreboard in the second period.
    Jan Blasko had two assists to lead Idaho (31-4-1), which outshot Southern Oregon (10-20-1-2), 44-24.
    Spartans goalkeeper Jiri Ponikelsky made 42 saves.
