A Medford man allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman in a Rogue Community College bathroom Thursday, police said.

Juan Fidencio Holman-Ramirez, 33, was arraigned Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree sex abuse, second-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy, first-degree rape and unlawful first-degree sexual penetration, court records show. He is held in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail.

Police said Holman-Ramirez is suspected of trying to fondle the woman before following her into a unisex bathroom and raping her. Neither are RCC students.

Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said the two met downtown and started walking together on the hunt for cigarettes. They walked into Building B at Rogue Community College at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

"Essentially it was (Holman-Ramirez) that was looking for the cigarettes. That was the reason for actually going in the building," Budreau said.

While in the building, Holman-Ramirez allegedly started fondling the woman. She retreated, ducking inside a unisex bathroom to get away.

"She was hoping (he) would have left," Budreau said. "According to the report, there wasn't anybody else in the lobby when that occurred."

After several minutes, police said Holman-Ramirez knocked on the door, forced himself inside and locked the door behind him. Police say Holman-Ramirez allegedly raped the woman and then allowed her to leave. The woman received treatment at Providence Medford Medical Center for injuries sustained during the alleged rape. No one witnessed the event or heard calls for help, Budreau said.

Police tracked Holman-Ramirez to the Budget Inn in Medford where he was staying. He was arrested after police interviewed him about the incident. Budreau said Holman-Ramirez says the encounter was consensual.

Police say Holman-Ramirez is a registered sex offender. Court records show he has a history of sex-crime convictions in Jackson County stretching back to 2003, when he was convicted of third-degree sex abuse. He was also convicted of third-degree sex abuse and third-degree sodomy in 2013. He also has multiple convictions for failing to report as a sex offender between 2003 and 2009, court records show.
