Matthew Karl Hyrup, a 29-year-old Medford man, remains in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail for allegedly abusing his then-18-month-old stepson in February 2012.
Jail records show Hyrup is held on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree sexual penetration, first-degree sodomy and attempted murder. He has been in the jail since Feb. 24, 2012, records show.
Court records show a 12-person trial has been scheduled, but not until Oct. 28. Judge Lorenzo Mejia will preside over the case, records show.
Police believe the child was sexually abused and beaten by Hyrup while the child was in his care. Hyrup has pleaded not guilty to all charges, court records show.
