Elmer Glenn Bailey, 93, passed away January 22, 2014 with complications resulting from a fall and Parkinson's. He was born in Ashland, Ore. to Saylor Harrison Bailey and Essie Genevieve Moore Bailey, the fourth of seven children. Glenn was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 6, 1942 and served three and a half years in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged November 30, 1945. On December 28, 1948, in Medford, Ore. he married Colista West.
He is survived by his wife; son, Donald Bailey; daughter, Suzanne Bailey Schmitz; two granddaughters, Katharine (David) Bailey Wood and Rebecca Bailey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edgar, Richard, George, Clifford, and Albert; and sister, Mary Rose.
Glenn was a member of the Upper Applegate and Phoenix Granges, many historical societies, and the Rogue Valley Genealogy Society. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and his family gatherings. He looked forward to going to lunch at Dolly Varden's Cafe and Debby's Diner for soup and hot chocolate.
Interment will be at the Eagle Point National Cemetery and a memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Central Point, Ore.
