Teachers union expresses "utter disappointment" in 11th-hour negotiations with Medford district

About 15 teachers and their union president gathered on the steps of the Medford School District administrative offices tonight to announce their "utter disappointment" in 11th-hour negotiations over a contract.

Medford Education Association President Cheryl Lashley vowed bargaining teams would continue until 5:59 a.m. Thursday, a minute before the teachers' scheduled strike.

Lashley said there was still no agreement between the district and the union over a health insurance cap, retirement benefits, working conditions and salary.

The union made no major announcement at the press conference, which lasted less than 15 minutes.
