  • Lone Pine Elementary School in Medford will host the 47th annual Chess for Success regional tournament for K-12 students.
    The tournament will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the school, 3158 Lone Pine Road. Students will compete as both teams and individuals. Entrants will be rated by their coaches as either beginner, intermediate or advanced skill levels, and will then be matched with players of the same skill level. There are five rounds at the tournament. Students who score well enough at the regional tournament will qualify for the state championship, held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland March 14 and 15.
    Registration for the tournament is open until midnight tonight. To register, or for more information, visit www.chessforsuccess.org.
