  • ASHLAND — Phoenix got three individual victories, including two from Ethan Shepherd, and captured two relays to claim the boys portion of a seven-team swim meet Tuesday at the Southern Oregon University pool.
    Phoenix had 107 points, outdistancing runner-up Ashland, which scored 61.
    Marshfield took the girls team event with 81 points. Phoenix was third with 51 points.
    Shepherd won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 19.89 seconds and the 100 free in 53.35. Taylor Brown earned the Pirates' other win in the 100 butterfly (1:06.57).
    Phoenix won the 200 and 400 free relays.
    For the Ashland boys, Cole Harding claimed the 50 free in 22.82 and the 500 free in 4:57.42. He also was on the winning 200 medley relay.
    Cascade Christian's Breanna Sapienza led the local girls, taking the 200 IM in 2:14.71 and the 100 back in 59.85.
    Other girl winners were South Medford's Kaylee Cooper (100 fly, 1:02.81) and Julia Miller (500 free, 5:59.59), Ashland's Ada Lawson (100 free, 58.91) and Phoenix's Lauren Speaks (100 breaststroke, 1:14.67).

    ROSEBURG SWEEPS — At Roseburg, Roseburg cruised to wins over Crater's boys and girls.
    The lone first place for the Comets came from Joey Setzer in the boys meet. He tied in the 100 breaststroke with Roseburg's Wesley Becherer with the best time of 1:17.34.
