ACCESS, Cover Oregon discuss insurance options

ACCESS Inc. is working with Cover Oregon to share information and resources about insurance options.

Through a Cover Oregon grant, ACCESS employees are holding town hall meetings and having private conversations with people.

Meetings in February are scheduled for:

  • 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Butte Falls Community Center, 431 Broad St.
  • 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Prospect Community Hall, 305 Red Blanket Road
  • 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Phoenix library, 510 First St.


Lone Pine school hosts K-12 chess tournament

Lone Pine Elementary School in Medford will host the 47th annual Chess for Success regional tournament for K-12 students.

The tournament will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the school, 3158 Lone Pine Road.

Students will compete in teams and individually. Entrants will be rated by their coaches as either beginner, intermediate or advanced, and will then be matched with players of similar skill.

Students who score well enough in the five-round regional tournament will qualify for the state championship, to be held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland March 14-15.

Skundrick sets town-hall meeting Feb. 12 in Gold Hill

Jackson County Commissioner Don Skundrick will hold a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Gold Hill library. The event is free and open to everyone.

He will also hold a town hall at 6 p.m. on March 18 at the Rogue River library.
