Siskiyou Violins

The Siskiyou Violins, the Rogue Valley's award-winning ensemble of young violinists, will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.

The junior violinists, directed by Sarah Klein, will perform a traditional French folk song, composer Henry Purcell's "Rigadoon" and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Little Star."

The advanced players, directed by Faina Podolnaya, will perform a mix of classical, traditional, jazz standards and more, including "Russian Folk Song," composed by Podolnaya.

Look for A. Glaznov's "Chant du Menestrel" played by cellist Paul Shubat, and A.L. Weber's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" and "Think of Me" sung by soprano Lauren Green, along with Michael Maclean's "Fandango" performed by Ryan Hoe Ellie Jennings, Aaron Klein, Emelia austin, Drew Morgan, Landon Rawcliffe and Hannah Winters.

Tickets cost $15, $5 for students, and can be purchased at Paddington Station, 125 E. Main St., Ashland, or at the door.

Siskiyou Violins will perform in June at the Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 2014 Los Angeles International Music Festival.

Junior violinists range from 7 to 10 years in age; the advanced players range from 8 to 18.
