  • Home Depot Inc. said today it will hire 80,000 workers in the U.S. in preparation for spring, its busiest sales period.
    A Home Depot spokesperson said the North Phoenix Road and Grants Pass stores each will add approximately 45 people to their staff.
    Building supply stores have benefitted from rebounding home prices and home improvements projects.
    Overall, the Atlanta-based company, with more than 300,000 employees and 2,263 stores in North America, will add jobs on a market-by-market basis.
    In fiscal 2012, Home Depot had sales of $74.8 billion and earnings of $4.5 billion.
