Celebrate Valentine's Day with wine and The Suaves. The duo — which features J.D. Brooks on guitar and Max Malcomb on drums — plays a range of R&B, rock, blues and reggae.
For live performances, the band plays what feels right.
"We play classics and some originals, mostly instrumentals," Malcomb says. "We try to keep a good mix."
The Suaves will play at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Enoteca Wine Tasting & Bistro, 17 N. Main St., Ashland.
The band formed on Valentine's Day in 2012, which makes this show their two-year anniversary. The project began as a four-piece band, but busy school schedules for members still attending Southern Oregon University made finding the time for live performances difficult. Malcomb and Brooks decided it would be easier to strike out as a duo.
The pair play a stripped-down set, opting for quieter fare. He cites the Bill Withers song "Ain't No Sunshine" as one of their favorites to play.
"We play good, easy stuff," Malcomb says. "We can get you up and moving your feet, too, but we like songs where the audience can sit back, relax and enjoy."
