    Denise was born April 3, 1948 in San Francisco, Calif. to Robert and Bettyanne Martinelli Yerbury. She attended St. Dunstan Grammar School, Mercy and Notre Dame High Schools, and San Mateo Community College. She worked as a secretary at DOD and Commercial Concerns.
    In June of 1978 Denise married Thomas Montgomery of San Mateo, Calif., who had two children by a previous marriage. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in Oregon in 1989 upon Thomas's retirement. For 15 years they lived in Medford and for the last nine years in Central Point. Denise worked as an addictions counselor at Serenity Lane and Rogue Recovery. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1980.
    Denise was known for her unselfish dedication to the welfare of others, as reflected in her choice of professions and work in Alcoholics Anonymous. Despite her physical limitations during her later years, she was still in contact with many friends and relatives.
    Denise was preceded in death by her step-child, Katherine Reimers of Clackamas, Ore. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; step-child, Karina Meister of Port Washington, N.Y.; two sisters, Constance Michaeloff of Sacramento, Calif. and Joanne Quermann of Cupertino, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
