Kenneth (Ken) Lee White Sr., born October 22, 1949, passed into eternity Sunday, February 9, 2014. Ken was born in Muleshoe, Texas to Horace and Helen White. His family moved to Eureka, Calif. in 1960 and this is where he met his wife, Sylvia Lilze, in March 1965. In January, Ken and Sylvia celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

Soon after Ken and Syl met, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and completed three years of service, including the Vietnam War and being decorated with honors including the National Defense Service Medal, MSM, OLC, MKM14, EXP-M16, VSM, VCM and ARCOM.

After the war, Ken returned home to his family in Eureka, Calif. and began working as a millwright in the lumber industry. Ken soon moved his family to Medford, Ore. and continued working as a millwright for Medco, LTD, LP, Timber Products, Central Point Lumber, Gazebo Works, Brightwood, and Gutches Lumber. Ken retired in 2012 and he and Sylvia made plans to spend time with their children and their families and to travel the United States.

Ken and Sylvia had three children, Anita, Ken Jr., and Crystal. Ken loved hunting and fishing, working in his wood yard, and the annual planting of his vegetable garden. He was an avid sports fan and coached his children in sports. He loved to watch professional sports on TV and loved to watch his grandchildren compete in high school and college sports. Ken loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Ken is survived by his wife; three children, Anita Fortugno, Ken White Jr., and Crystal Sims; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three grand-dogs.

A service will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at The American Legion, 100 E. Jackson

St., Medford, OR.
