Medford group wins Megabucks jackpot

Five ticketholders to split $2.4 million jackpot

A group of Medford area residents recently struck it big playing the Oregon Lottery.

Buying Megabucks tickets as a group, Linda and Wes Cowden, Dawne Desimone, Doyle Tucker and Dean Hunt won the $2.4 million jackpot prize after the Jan. 25 drawing, according to a press release from the Oregon Lottery.

Each person in the group opted to receive a one-time cash payment, which reduced the prize amount, the release said.

Before taxes, the Cowdens received about $400,000, Desimone received about $200,000 and Tucker and Hunt each received about $200,000.

The winners could not be reached for comment. Another individual, who wished not to be named, was listed as a winner in the press release, but he said that his inclusion was a mistake and he was not among the winners.
