  • A missing Medford teenager with autism was found by police following a nine-hour search Thursday.
Nicolas Ian Cain, 15, who lives on Scholarship Way, was last seen by his mother at 10 p.m. Wednesday when he went to bed, Medford police reported. When his father came home from work at midnight, he went into his son's bedroom to check on him but found him missing from the room.
"He put pillows in his bed like it was occupied, and he does have a history of running away. We certainly believe he left on his own accord," said Lt. Mike Budreau, adding the cold temperatures overnight and Nicolas' autism made his disappearance cause for concern.
Police found Nicolas at 9:20 a.m. at the corner of Alta Lane and South Haskell Street in Central Point, less than one mile from his home.
"He's fine. He's in good health," Budreau said after the search concluded.
