  • Keith LeRoy Hassler passed away Wednesday, February 19, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his three children, Norman Hassler, Karen Lounsbury, and Karla Floyd (all of Medford); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also has one living sister, Zada Staton, in Gresham, Oregon.
    Keith was born in Washington, Kans. in 1933 and moved to Monmouth, Ore. with his family when he was four years old. Keith spent two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a telegraph operator.
    Keith married Doris Irene Hildebrand in 1952 and after his term of service was over moved to Portland, Ore. where he found employment at First National Bank as a teller and money counter. He moved up through the ranks and eventually became a trust officer.
    In 1973 Keith moved his family to Medford, Ore. where he finished his career of 32 years at the then-named First Interstate Bank.
    After retiring at the age of 55, Keith and Doris sold their home and became full-time travelers with their pick-up and trailer. They traveled the states for five years before settling again in Medford.
    Keith's memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Avenue in Medford.
    Keith had a wonderful sense of humor and many good friends. He will be greatly missed!
