Video and related stories — Ryan Vosika and his Banditos Yanquis, The Tin Man Project and blues singer Cee Cee James and her band will face off this weekend at the last semifinal of the Rising Stars music competition.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Vosika and his band — with vocalist Chavala Bates, drummer Paul Dellar and bassist Kirk Evans — play light-hearted folk and Seattle-style grunge; The Tin Man Project — with guitarists Kirk Gibson and Tom Stinson — play folk covers and some original music; and Cee Cee James plays gritty blues and R&B.
Audiences can vote for their favorite bands or musicians by purchasing votes for $2 each. Proceeds will benefit Britt's music education programs. Admission to the event is free.
The music starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at South Stage Cellars, 125 S. Third St., Jacksonville.
The finals will be held Saturday, March 1, at the Britt Pavilion, 350 First St., with the winner chosen by a combination of public votes and a panel of judges.
The winning band or musician will be featured as an opening act during Britt Festivals' 2014 season of outdoor concerts and will perform live in the studio at Jefferson Public Radio.
