  • North Medford girls soccer coach Emily Miller has resigned after two years as the head coach and three years as an assistant coach.
    Last fall, Miller guided the Black Tornado to a share of first place in the Southern Oregon Hybrid with a 6-1-1 record. It lost in the second round of the state playoffs to Grant, 3-0, and ended up 9-5-1 overall.
    The year before, North Medford won the SOH with a 6-2 record and made it to the second round of the state playoffs, ending up 10-5 overall.
    Miller was a former Hidden Valley standout who played collegiately at College of the Siskiyous and Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga..
    Prineville resident Bill Johnston recorded three pending world records during benchrest shooting competition at the Jackson County Sports Park shooting range on Sunday.
    In heavy-gun group shooting — where the objective is to place ten shots on a target as close together as possible — he grouped shots within 1.4360 inches from 600 yards away.
    In heavy-gun aggregate (where 30 shots are fired), Johnston came within 2.0688 inches. In two-gun aggregate (where 45 shots are fired), he grouped shots within 2.20625 inches.
    His results have been sent for validation by the National Benchrest Shooters Association.
