  • GENEVA, Ohio — Amelia Maguin and Jonz Olander had strong showings for Southern Oregon University in the 400-meter preliminaries Friday at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, but both missed qualifying for the finals.
Olander's time of 48.83 was third in his heat and 11th of 20 runners overall at the SPIRE Institute. He would have advanced by placing second in the heat, but Indiana Tech's Dareyus Person beat him by 0.18 seconds. The top qualifying time, 47.47, belonged to Durawn Howard of Wayland Baptist.
Maguin was 1.46 seconds from getting the eighth spot in the women's final, finishing in 58.14 to place third in her heat and 14th of 31 overall. Oklahoma Baptist's Stacy Warrior (54.98) was the fastest qualifier.
