May 18, 1930 ~ March 6, 2014
Bill Harris passed away March 6, 2014 peacefully at Providence Medford Medical Center. He was born in Buell, Idaho, the youngest of four children born to Roger and Alice Harris.
Bill's family moved to Medford, Ore. in 1936. They moved to Butte Falls in 1946 where Bill graduated in 1948. He married the love of his life, Mary Jo Harris, November 23, 1949. Three years later their first child, Pamela Rae Harris (Deaville) was born. Two years later their second child was born, Roger Lee Harris. Bill and Mary Jo had another son who died shortly after he was born, Michael Leroy Harris. Bill spent his entire working career in timber including a short period of time in a mill and the rest as logger. During his 40 years of logging he worked for Medco, Plumley, and Cummings. He enjoyed deer hunting, a little fishing, and bowling. He was actively involved with community groups and boards during the 20 years he and Mary Jo lived in Butte Falls. Bill will be remembered for his witty sense of humor. He had a knack for summarizing a situation with a short sentence that left people smiling and shaking their head.
Bill is survived by daughter, Pam Deaville (Phil); son Roger Lee Harris (Judith); five grandchildren; six great-grand-children; and sister; Jo Dale.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; infant son, Michael Harris; father, Roger W. Harris; mother, Alice Harris; and sisters, Betty Barber and Harriet Tracy.
There will be a private memorial for Bill. The family would like to thank all the staff at Alderwood Assisted Living in Central Point, Oregon for their dedicated support and love they showed to Bill the past 10 years.
