  • A car crash Sunday near the intersection of North Foothill and Coker Butte roads left a 26-year-old woman dead after she lost control of her Subaru and veered into an oncoming pickup truck, authorities said.
Following the two-vehicle crash, Alexandra Hanscom of Medford was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to Andrea Carlson, a spokesperson for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
"She was put into stable condition and transported ... she died at the hospital while receiving treatment from injuries sustained," Carlson said. "That's one of the most dangerous intersections we deal with. ... It's an ugly spot right there."
"She was in a Subaru going south on North Foothill and she lost control of her vehicle in the rain and ended up traveling into the oncoming lane of traffic, where she was hit by a full-sized Ford pickup truck," Carlson said.
The crash involved three people, Carlson said, but she did not have any information concerning anyone but Hanscom, because an official report on the incident has not been filed. Carlson said she was not certain which vehicle had two occupants.
