The academy, held in Jackson and Josephine counties, will teach about fire science, home-protection strategies, fuel-reduction techniques, risk evaluation, fire-adapted communities and emergency preparedness. Applications for the academy are now being accepted.
Sessions will run from 1 to 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday from April 15 to June 3. The cost is $100, which covers eight classes. A sliding scale is available.
