    The Jackson County Sheriff's Department will present a free community forum to look at problems drugs cause locally.
    The Sheriff's Department, Medford police, Jackson County Health and Human Services Department and Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center will discuss the issue from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Smullin Education Center on the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center campus, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford.
    The forum will cover why the region is a hot spot for drugs and drug use and current trends. Presenters will talk about the effects on law enforcement, the jail and hospitals, and how they are handling the increasing problem.
    The discussion includes photographs and videos on the subject that may include explicit language and images.
    The forum is part of a series covering issues the Sheriff's Department deals with. Past events have held discussions on gangs and mental illness. Forums are planned on fraud, scams and identity theft, children's issues, and search and rescue.
    The 42nd annual Southern Oregon Antiques and Collectibles Club spring show and sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway.
    Appraisers and other experts will be on hand to evaluate heirlooms for a small fee to provide information about an item's purpose, provenance and price. Also look for demonstrations of quilting, weaving and tatting.

    The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will present a lecture, "Standing Up Straight is Harder Than You Think," from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the RCC/SOU Higher Education Center, 101 S. Bartlett St., Medford.
    Licensed massage therapist David Fredrickson will discuss common postural imbalances caused by age, disease, injuries, genetics and repetitive movements. He will also cover prevention and treatment.

    Lomakatsi will lead an ecological restoration of the Cottonwood Creek watershed in Colestin Valley, approximately 30 minutes from Ashland.
    Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Ashland Shop'n Kart, 2268 Ashland St.
