  • Southern Oregon University music major and pianist Tatsiana Asheichyk is a 2014 winner in the American Protege International Romantic Music Competition.
    Asheichyk graduated summa cum laude from the Belarusian State Academy of Music in Minsk. SOU's Alexander Tutunov discovered Asheichyk and selected her to study piano performance in Ashland.
    Asheichyk will perform a winners' recital on Saturday, March 29, at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
    She and saxophone player Jenifer Knippel will play selections from the classical repertoire at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church, 87 Fourth St., Ashland.
    Admission is free, but donations to help with travel expenses will be accepted.
