  • CORVALLIS — The North Valley boys basketball team tied the Class 4A state tournament record with 11 3-pointers as the Knights downed Cottage Grove, 68-39, to take fourth place at Gill Coliseum on Saturday.

  • CORVALLIS — The North Valley boys basketball team tied the Class 4A state tournament record with 11 3-pointers as the Knights downed Cottage Grove, 68-39, to take fourth place at Gill Coliseum on Saturday.
    North Valley's Chris Morsa scored 20 points and knocked down six 3-pointers, while Cameron Lyon chipped in 17 points and Cody Thompson added 17 points and seven rebounds.
    The Knights (21-8) led 24-19 at halftime and used an 18-10 surge in the third to pull away.
    Garett Boyce had 15 points for Cottage Grove (20-7).
    The other team to knock down 11 3s was Phoenix in 2012, when Tyler Dungannon erupted for 43 points and nine 3-pointers in a semifinal victory over Sisters.
    Morsa was named first-team all-tournament, while Lyon earned second-team honors.
