  • Anchored by dominant performances by Aaron Browne-Moore and Halley Folsom, the North Medford track teams swept Crater in a Southwest Conference meet at North Medford High Wednesday.
    The Black Tornado boys won, 90-54, and the North girls cruised, 88-53.
    Browne-Moore won the 100-meter race (11.08 seconds) and 200 (22.51) and ran legs on the winning 4x100 (45.05) and 4x400 (3:39.28) squads.
    Crater's Darien Andrews took first in the 1,500 (4:29.31) and 3,000 (10:10.22).
    On the girls side, Folsom captured victories in the 300 (46.61), high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and triple jump (34-81/2).
    Crater's Lexy McWillie won the 100 (17.12) and long jump (14-81/2).

    SOUTH MEDFORD SWEEPS EP — At Eagle Point, South Medford's David Elsdon won a pair of individual events to lead the Panthers boys past host Eagle Point, while Sara Miles also won two events to lead South's girls to a runaway nonleague victory.
    Elsdon finished first in the 110 hurdles (17.9) and long jump (19-9) while Miles won the shot put (37-73/4) and javelin (117-0).

    CRATER 16, THURSTON 10 — At Springfield, Crater scored seven runs in the top of the first inning but still had to rally from a 10-7 deficit through two innings to secure the nonleague victory.
    Comets senior Ty Fox came on with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and induced an inning-ending groundout. He faced 16 batters overall, striking out four against three hits allowed with no walks. Fox also was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, including a fifth-inning triple that followed a double by Taylor Tibbets.
    Tibbets finished 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI on a seventh-inning home run for Crater (2-0), while Paul Turner was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, Blake Fahndrich 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs, Gunnar Asher 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, Zach Lathrop 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI and Tanner Ryerson 2-for-5 with one run.

    Mikala Mohr went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and Kady Kantola was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for the Knights (1-1), who finished the game in five innings by the 10-run mercy rule.
    Ashland, which was playing its season opener under first-year head coach Don Senestraro, was led by Georgia Williams and Grace Lenthe. Williams, a junior who did not play last season, was 1-for-2 with an RBI triple in the third and another RBI in the fourth. Lenthe added an RBI single in the third.

    Ashland's two-time defending Class 5A doubles champion, Hanna Greenberg and Vika O'Brien, trounced Cat Keeney and Kim Velasquez, 6-0, 6-0.
