Ruth Purdy, 91, of Medford, Ore. passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence. Ruth was born April 7, 1922 in Rochester, New York to parents Roy and Marguerite (Bellows) Howden. She spent her early years in Rochester and that is where she met her husband while working at an ice cream store.
In the early 40s, they moved to Southern California where they raised three boys. She was active in the Soical Order of the Beauceant and was its Supreme Worthy President, traveling across the US in 1972. In 1987 they moved to Oregon.
Ruth was also a bird lover. Her back yard was like an aviary. She loved and cared for her birds until she was no longer able. Her cat then came into her life and filled her with much happiness.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cordon, and eldest son, Don. She is survived by two sons, Rick of Phoenix Ariz. and Bob of Bandon, Ore.; eight grand-children; three great-grand-children; and a sister, Carol of Florida and New York
Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband, Cordon, at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
