  • Bonnie Jean Matthews Unruh DeBernardi passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln City, Ore. March 21, 2014. She was born May 18, 1928 in Roseburg, Ore. to Joseph Shirley Matthews and Edna Harriet Perrin Matthews. She had a brother Arthur Bill Matthews. She was married to Fay Unruh in 1961 until his passing in 1991, and Donn DeBernardi in 1998 until his passing in 2011.
    She attended Roseburg High School and Southern Oregon College in Ashland where she received her Associate of Nursing degree. She worked at Providence Hospital and later started the Rehab Unit at Providence Hospital. She lived in Roseburg, Phoenix, Portland, and retired in Lincoln City, Ore. She loved her family, fishing, the ocean, the Trail Blazers, and her Sunday Breakfast Group.
    She is survived by her children, Jon Unruh (Sandy), Dan DeBernardi, and Dawn DeBernardi Spencer; sister-in-law, Carolee Matthews; grandchildren, Jaclyn Unruh, Tysan and Mark McClusky, Dominic DeBernardi, and Kathryn Norris; great-grandchildren, Auorora McClusky and Henry Norris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Bill; daughter, Deborah McClusky (July 4, 1995); and husbands, Fay (November 21, 1991) and Donn (February 23, 2011).
    A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. March 29, 2014 in the banquet rooms at Chinook's Winds Seafood Grill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ronald McDonald House, 2620 N. Commercial Avenue, Portland, OR 97227 would be appreciated.
