  • Elaine Maureen Brown passed away peacefully in her home in Medford, Ore. Friday, March 21, 2014 after a long battle with lung disease. She was loved beyond measure by her family and friends and is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was 78.
    Born December 2, 1935 in Lance Creek, Wyo., Elaine moved with her parents and four sisters to Applegate, Ore. in the mid 1940s. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1954 and thereafter became a licensed beautician. In 1960 she married Coe Brown, her devoted and faithful husband of nearly 54 years, who survives. She is also survived by three daughters; Dianna Atterbury of Monroe, Wash., Kelly Lambert (Brian) of Eagle Point, Ore., and Colleen Johnston (Denver) of Medford, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Coffeen of Paradise, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Estella Nelson; and three sisters, Annette Wooten, Bonnie Johnston, and Charlotte Bohl.
    Elaine enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and knitting. She attended Applegate Community Church weekly until about 2005. Elaine served her family faithfully as a homemaker and later became an Avon Sales Representative, serving 31 years. An avid bowler for nearly 50 years, Elaine served as secretary for the Medford Women's Bowling Association, Medford Junior Bowling Association, and the Women's Classic League for numerous years, was a certified junior bowling coach, and was inducted into the Rogue Valley Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994.
    The memorial service to celebrate Elaine and her homecoming to Heaven will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at New Beginnings Church, 5889 Crater Lake Hwy, Central Point, Ore. Pastor Don Calvert will officiate and a light reception will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to
