Allred captures Gateway event

GILBERT, Ariz. — Ashland native Jason Allred won the fourth tournament of the All-American Gateway Tour's spring season Friday, surviving a three-player, five-hole playoff at Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch.

Allred, who lives in Scottsdale, Ariz., birdied the 18th hole to get into the playoff, then made two birdies and three pars to outlast Joel Dahman and Darren Angel. He earned $13,000.

Dahman is third on the season money list and Angel 10th.

Allred had rounds of 66, 65 and 69 on the par-71 layout.

Earlier in the week, Allred attempted to Monday qualify for the PGA Tour's Valero Open. He shot a 71, four off the score needed to get into playoff. There were four spots available.
