Francis Dingwerth was born at home in Raeville, Neb. to Henry and Anna Dingwerth. He passed away peacefully at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Saugus, Calif., where he had been living the past two years.
After serving in the Army in WWII, Francis married Mildred Marie Wissing in 1946 and together they had three girls, Jennifer (Chuck) Wilkinson, Marcia (Wayne) Simon, and Bonnie (Michael) Crowl.
In 1959 they moved to San Fernando, Calif. where they lived in the same home almost until he retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1982. They traveled throughout the United Stated for seven years before settling down in Oregon in 1989.
Fran's passion was singing. He had a splendid tenor voice and enjoyed singing in church choirs and at numerous weddings and anniversaries throughout his lifetime. He also enjoyed gardening, family get-togethers, and playing cards.
He is survived by his brother, Ed; three daughters; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mildred preceded him in death in 2007 after 60 years of marriage.
