Michael Myke Lutz , 59, long time resident of the Rogue Valley, passed away at his home March 24, 2014, surrounded by those who loved him, after a short but hard fought battle with liver cancer.

Myke was born July 2, 1954 to Barbara and Richard (dec.) Lutz in Palo Alto, Calif. After a brief stint in the auto industry, Myke moved to Jacksonville, Ore. where he pursued his passion for music. Well known throughout the Rogue Valley for his drumming talent, he performed with many bands, including the Shadowz, the Jesse Kennemer Band, and toured in 2013 with Cee Cee James. A master gardener, his Sungold tomatoes were always in great demand. A man of great wit and a generous heart, he loved and was loved by many, including his dog, Zeus.

Myke was especially proud of his "son", Jesse Kennemer. Realizing Jesse's talent at a young age on the guitar, Myke dedicated himself to furthering Jesse's musical career. He will be greatly missed by Kathy Ronan, his loving companion and light of Myke's life.

Myke is survived by his mother, Barbara Lutz; sisters, Kathy Moran and Missy Lutz; nephews, Ryan and Corey Moran, Spencer and Pierce Philp; and niece, Meghan Philp.

A Mass celebrating Myke's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. Burial at Jacksonville Cemetery will immediately follow.
