  • A crash Wednesday afternoon on North River Road near Gold Hill killed a 40-year-old Grants Pass man and seriously injured two others.
    Joe David Campos, 40, was killed after a red 2000 Kia he was riding in fishtailed and crashed into a tan 2000 Buick Park Avenue in the 3600 block of North River Road at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
    The Kia's driver was identified as Lynda Mae Taylor, 32, of Grants Pass. She was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition, the release stated.
    The Buick was driven by 80-year-old Jerry Vernon Barrett, of Gold Hill, who also was taken to a local hospital. The release stated that his condition was serious.
    North River Road was being shut down while the investigation continued, the release stated. It is unknown why the driver lost control of the Kia, according to authorities.
    The Sheriff's Department was being assisted by officers from the Medford Police Department and the Oregon State Police.
