A Tribute to
a Wonderful Woman
Jeannette C. (VanVliet) Ayer was born September 18, 1926 in Etna, Calif. and fell asleep in Jesus February 26, 2014, in Medford, Ore.
At 16, she worked in Yreka, Calif., where she met and fell in love with a handsome new high school senior named Jim Ayer. Their marriage continued for 71 wonderful years.
Jeanette and Jim moved to Mt. Shasta, Calif. with their only child they named, Jim, who years later, opened a pet shop called Jungle Jim's Pet Shop. It served as the local zoo for many people.
Many people will remember Jeanette as the areas professional dog groomer for over 20 years (with Rosebud the Spider Monkey looking over her shoulder).
Jeanette and Jim were the creators of Van Vliet Doll Company, producing many award-winning porcelain and wood dolls as well as several lines of wooden bears that sold nation-wide.
She is greatly missed by her husband; Jim, and daughter-in-law; Jim and Janene, as well as the grandchildren and their spouses; Dan and Natasha, Jason, Meriah, and Roger, and, three great grandchildren, Alexis; Madison, and Cody
