  • The South Medford girls tennis team swept past Thurston, 8-0, in District 1 action at South Medford High on Saturday.
    Sophomore Kelsey Bartlett, the Panthers' No. 1 girls player, improved to 3-0 after beating Sarah Morris, 7-5, 6-1.
    South Medford's top doubles pairing of Kali Curtis and Hannah Case topped Stephanie Hall and Sierra Hebert, 6-0, 6-2.
    "For both teams to go 14-2, it's fantastic," said South head coach Hal Borg, who also coaches the South boys team that downed Thurston, 6-2. "The kids played great and the weather cooperated."
    The Panthers improved to 2-1 on the season.

    NORTH MEDFORD 5, THURSTON 1 — North Medford won every match but No. 1 doubles, where Thurston combined its Nos. 1 and 2 singles players.
    The Black Tornado improved to 1-2 heading into Tuesday's match against South Medford.

    SOUTH MEDFORD 6, THURSTON 2 — South Medford's No. 1 singles player Kylar Tosh downed Treyson Sherk, 6-1, 6-0, and the Panthers' top doubles pairing of Tanner Johnson and Ben Vaughn beat Bryce Vogt and Layne Altemus, 6-3, 6-2, during District 1 action.
    The South boys are 1-1-1.
