  • An autopsy determined that a self-inflicted gunshot wound killed a Klamath Falls man whose body was found Wednesday morning in the back of a burning pickup on a dirt road off Highway 140.
The body of Joseph E. Huntstiger, 66, was found in the bed of a charred pickup after Rocky Point Fire & EMS knocked down a vehicle fire on a dirt road about a mile south of Highway 140 near milepost 51, on Wednesday morning, an Oregon State Police news release said.
A handgun was found with Huntstiger, police reported. An OSP arson detective who responded to the scene concluded the fire started in the rear of the truck's camper, but the cause is undetermined, a news release said Friday.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office did the autopsy Thursday.
OSP detectives continue to investigate, the release said.
